WBA welcomes Australasia’s leading Wi-Fi service provider to global roaming alliance

Auckland, 16 September 2009 – Tomizone, the leading Wi-Fi service provider in Australasia announced today that it has joined the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) - a forum of the world’s leading wireless broadband operators. “We are delighted to have Tomizone, one of Australasia’s leading Wi-Fi enablers, join our global alliance. As wireless broadband connectivity on-the-move becomes increasingly important, our objective is to facilitate wireless broadband roaming globally. Our members will significantly benefit from Tomizone’s vast network of over 16,000 hotspots through Australasia,” said Mr. Shrikant Shenwai, CEO of the WBA. The current WBA membership consists of pioneers in global wireless broadband field and some of the major corporations on its Board of Directors include BT, Boingo Wireless, Deutsche Telekom AG/T-Mobile Orange France, Tata Communications, TMN & True Corporation

Tomizone operates Wi-Fi hotspots and zones throughout popular places like Café’s, accomodation venues and densely populated areas in Australasia; helping people connect to the Internet with their Wi-Fi laptop or Internet-capable gadget. Tomizone also offers a solution that lets anyone share a broadband connection securely and make money from this by becoming a Tomizone Hotspot or Wi-Fi Zone; a service that is increasingly popular with retailers looking to offer additional services to their customers.

“Tomizone shares the WBA’s vision of driving wireless broadband adoption globally and it aligns well with Tomizone’s vision to bring Wi-Fi to anyone, anywhere.” says Tomizone CEO Steve Simms. “Joining the WBA will enable Tomizone to continue to offer the highest quality Wi-Fi access to our customers in strategic locations to offer greater convenience, and potentially revenue, to our customers.”

Over time, Tomizone account holders will have access to the WBA’s thousands of hotspots, while Tomizone hotspot owners will benefit from access to the many million mobile and broadband subscribers of the WBA members.

To ease commercial roaming between members, the WBA has developed the award-winning WRIX (Wireless Roaming Intermediary Exchange). This standard service specification, along with common commercial standards, will enable Tomizone to offer accelerated roaming deployment in conjunction with WBA members. The aim of this consistent customer experience is to meet the growing demand for access to quality wireless broadband connectivity.

MACH Connectivity opens a new chapter and a whole new world

Luxembourg, 16th February 2009 – MACH, the leading provider of solutions to simplify and accelerate the creation and operation of the mobility supply chain, today announced that it is fully integrating its End2End Connectivity business. From today, the business will be known as MACH Connectivity, offering carrier grade messaging solutions with global SMS coverage.

MACH also announced today that it has expanded MACH Connectivity‘s Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS Service to serve all key Latin American markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Equador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Consistent growth in the Americas messaging market, incorporating North America and Latin America, has greatly increased the region’s significance for MACH’s existing and prospective client base. The market, particularly in South America, is extremely fragmented, with multiple technologies like GSM, TDMA and CDMA present not only across the market-place but within individual operator businesses. Complexity and associated costs are set to increase further with the imminent introduction of Mobile Number Portability.

MACH Connectivity messaging services, which equip corporate customers to deliver SMS services including banking information, flight status notification and intelligent mobile marketing, expand enterprise messaging reach, reduce cost and eliminate complexity.  The MACH SMS Gateway already provides immediate connectivity to the broadest range of inter-working partners. With only one contract, one technical connection and through industry-standard interfaces, MACH clients can access the world’s fastest growing messaging platform, providing instant access to operators in any country, operating on any technology.

With over ten years of global experience in the messaging industry, over 500 customers and presence in more than 200 countries, MACH Connectivity’s carrier-grade infrastructure is built on proven market success. By establishing a dedicated Americas operation, MACH Connectivity will now provide local account management, local support and local network operations centres – working in local languages – to deliver a truly local service built on global expertise.

“As a fully integrated part of MACH, MACH Connectivity is ideally positioned within a growing, global business to continue and accelerate the growth and success we have enjoyed for 10 years,” said Alexander Schebler, VP Sales at MACH Connectivity. “Our expansion into the Americas market follows the successful expansion of our presence in the Indian and African markets in 2008, and allows us to work closely with customers in the region to increase the impact and reach of their messaging services and to eliminate complexity in a complex market. It is our people who drive success for our customers, and this move into the Americas places our people at the heart of our customers’ markets.”

Unlocking the potential of Inter-standard Roaming (ISR)
- MACH launches revolutionary new ISR services

Luxembourg, 16th February 2009 – MACH today announced the launch of its new Inter-Standard Roaming (ISR) services, which not only give CDMA-based end-users unprecedented access to GSM networks when travelling abroad, but also facilitate GSM to CDMA roaming and connect GSM and CDMA mobile customers to thousands of WiMAX zones worldwide.

“End-users are no longer willing to tolerate the inconvenience and expense of maintaining different types of voice and data access when they are abroad – and they no longer have to,” said Guy Dubois, President and CEO, MACH. “MACH’s Inter-Standard Roaming services will, quite simply, change the mobile roaming paradigm forever. We are unlocking a new world of revenue opportunities for operators and a new world of cost-effective convenience for end-users.”

The services announced by MACH today reshape the mobile roaming landscape in three important ways.

Firstly, MACH’s Inter-Standard Roaming services equip operators to unlock revenues hitherto out of reach. Customers no longer need alternative access media when travelling and so are no longer incentivised to opt for a GSM account at home. Operators can claim a far greater share of customers’ communications spend when travelling, competing directly with alternative technologies like local prepaid GSM SIM cards or hotel and airport Wi-Fi.

Secondly, the services announced today allow operators to unlock the true value of existing technology investments by providing out-of-the-box compatibility with the technologies operated by roaming partners. A single point of connectivity provides a cost-effective extension of network coverage. The need for network installation is eliminated, shortening time-to-market and reducing capital investment. Simplified, zone-based pricing and access to GSM, CDMA and WiMAX networks through one single agreement significantly reduce operating costs. The resulting reduction in capital and operational expenditures allows operators to offer dramatically lower end-user prices.

And thirdly, operators can enhance customer satisfaction by unlocking customer access to a broader portfolio of voice services and applications – wherever they are in the world, through one device and with one bill. Increased satisfaction drives down rates of churn to competitors and alternative communications media, increases usage, and drives new product adoption.

MACH’s portfolio of Inter-Standard Roaming services is the first and only offering in the market to combine technology innovation with proven roaming infrastructure management. Its unique Mobile IP (MIP) proxy functionality provides a seamless virtual home experience to the end-user, increasing access to branded data services.

With more than 600 customers worldwide and over 20 years experience in the management of complex roaming relationships, MACH’s Inter-Standard Roaming services are built on the industry’s widest roaming coverage and most comprehensive carrier-grade roaming infrastructure, including end-to-end solution hosting and customer care, billing, clearing and settlement, signalling conversion, fraud protection, and end-to-end user visibility.

Freedom4
FREEDOM4 delivers dual band mobile WiMAX handover capability

FREEDOM4 has achieved the world’s first seamless mobile WiMAX session handover between base stations operating at two different frequencies (2.5GHz & 3.6GHz). Working with its partners Airspan Networks (NASDAQ: AIRN), Starent Networks (NASDAQ: STAR) and Bridgewater Systems (TSX: BWC), FREEDOM4 has also built the underlying network architecture enabling it to deliver high capacity wholesale mobile broadband services.

FREEDOM4’s network can now utilise multiple WiMAX vendors and consolidated spectrum assets to support major UK retail and public sector partners with individual product propositions, access devices and quality of service.

Graham Currier, COO at FREEDOM4 comments "The excellent technical knowledge and operating experience now gained strongly positions FREEDOM4 as the WiMAX ‘partner of choice’. We have the spectrum position and capability to implement a wholesale network and systems platform ideally suited to compete in the rapidly expanding market for wireless broadband services."

Paul Senior, Airspan Networks CTO adds "We are very pleased to have achieved the ‘world’s first’ dual band WiMAX handover with FREEDOM4. The ability to combine their 3.6GHz spectrum with 2.5GHz enables carriers on a national or international basis to support seamless handover and roaming regardless of the WiMAX profile that is used. This breakthrough was achieved using Airspan’s quad band Q-Series MiMAX USB device with base stations co-developed by Airspan and Fujitsu."

Brenda Boehm, Starent Networks VP Business Solutions added "Our intelligent ASN Gateway and Home Agent solutions combined with FREEDOM4’s wholesale WiMAX core network provide a robust, scalable and flexible mobile IP solution which is able to support multiple retail and infrastructure partners on the same radio access network."

Ashish Patel, Managing Director Intel Capital EMEA asserted: "We believe this advance pioneered by FREEDOM4 reinforces our vision of a true mobile broadband consumer experience across WiMAX frequency bands in the European market. Intel Capital is a major investor in WiMAX technology and is committed to accelerating the deployment of open-standards mobile broadband around the world. Earlier this year Intel Capital provided growth capital to FREEDOM4 to accelerate the deployment of WiMAX networks in the U.K."

FREEDOM4’s WiMAX solution has been built at its facility at Stratford-upon-Avon leveraging its own and non-operational spectrum at 3.6GHz, 2.5GHz and 28GHz to showcase mobile broadband services and device interoperability. The end-to-end WiMAX network can deliver both fixed and mobile broadband services on a unified IP core infrastructure. This technology model could also greatly accelerate the prospect of inter-operator and inter-country mobile broadband roaming across WiMAX frequency bands using WiMAX enabled laptops and other mobile internet devices.
